Looking at Fear in the Face

We all have fears. We all have worries and are apprehensive about things. But is that the way that God wants us to live? Does He want us to live a life of fear? Of course not!

In Matthew 6:25-34, it says:
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
God doesn't want us to worry about anything. He will always be there to sustain us. We should put our trust in Him and know that He is going to take care of us.

I love the comparisons to the birds. Think about it. How often do you think about each little bird that flies in the air? Do you sometimes feel like that when you realize that God has to remember each one of us here on Earth? That maybe He doesn't have time to worry about each and every one of us?

Here, in the Bible, in the words of truth, it says:
Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?
We are so much more valuable to God than the birds, but yet He cares for them.
Psalm 55:22 -- Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; He will never let the righteous fall.
1 Peter 5:7 -- Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Next time you're thinking about giving into fear and worry, cast those thoughts upon the Lord, and He will give you peace of mind.

We don't know what tomorrow holds, but we know that by believing in an all-knowing God, who DOES know what tomorrow holds, that He will get us through whatever.

That's a comfort to me :)

Blessings,
A.
